The Maldives recently banned Israeli passport holders from entering the country in response to the genocide in Gaza. The Immigration Bill was passed by the Maldivian Parliament on Monday, April 14,
and will be signed into law by President Mohamed Muizzu on April 14, according to the presidential palace. The enactment reflects the government’s strong commitment to responding to the ongoing atrocities and genocide committed by Israel against the Palestinian people, the statement said.
Israel has rejected the genocide accusation, saying it adheres to international law and has the right to defend itself after the Hamas cross-border attack from Gaza on October 7, 2023, which sparked the current conflict.
